Journey Bucharest - Poiana Brasov

Day 1: Monday, 9th August 1999

Arrival at Otopeni Bucharest International Airport where you will meet our representative. Transfer to the hotel. On the way short sightseeing of Bucharest on the main boulevards. Dinner and accommodation in 4* hotel in Bucharest or similar.


Day 2: Tuesday, 10th August 1999

Visit the Cotroceni Palace, former residence of Romanian Kings from the Hohenzollern dynasty - the palace was built by the French architect Paul Gottereau and continued by the Romanian architect Grigore Cerchez in XIX century. Visit the town with his main boulevards and palaces: University Square, National Theatre, National Bank Palace, Sutu Palace, the Justice Palace, Romanian Athenaeum, the National Library, Calea Victoriei, Cantacuzino Palace, Magheru Boulevard, Government Palace, the Royal Palace. Visit the Village Museum, one of the most beautiful and complete ethnographic museums of Europe, with more than 350 peasants houses from all the Romanian counties. In the afternoon you will be back to the hotel. Optional visit to Bucharest Astronomical Observatory "Amiral Vasile Urseanu" (15 US$/person) in the evening. Dinner and accommodation in Bucharest 4* hotel or similar.


Day 3: Wednesday, 11th August 1999

Transfer to the place where you'll see the Eclipse, within his visibility area near Bucharest (umbral duration 2m22s). Free time for discussions about the Eclipse. Dinner and accommodation in Bucharest 4* hotel or similar.


Day 4: Thursday, 12th August 1999

Departure to Targoviste, the old capital of the country in the times of Vlad the Impaler. Visit the fortress and Chindia Tower. Stop over to the main SARM camp. Continue your trip to Curtea de Arges and visit Biserica Domneasca and Curtea de Arges Monastery, one of the most important monument of the Romanian orthodoxy. Here is the place where are berry the Romanian Kings. Leave to Poiana Brasov via the Rucar Bran. Accommodation in Poiana Brasov 3* hotel. Dinner at "Coliba Haiducilor" restaurant with typical Romanian meals in the sound of popular music.


Day 5: Friday, 13th August 1999

Start your day by visiting the peasant fortress of Rasnov built in the XIV century. Continue your way to Bran for visiting Bran Castle known in the legend as been Dracula’s Castle. Here you will also visit the Ethnographic Museum and the Customs Museum. In the afternoon you will be in Brasov and visit St. Nicolas Church, The Black Church - the biggest Romanian gothic monument, the Council Square. Accommodation and dinner in Poiana Brasov 3* hotel. Mediaeval dinner at Brasov Citadel in accords of classic music.


Day 6: Saturday, 14th August 1999

Leave to Sighisoara, the best preserved medieval city in Romania. Visit the old city, the Clock Tower, the Evangelical Church - the oldest gothic monument from Romania and also Dracula’s House, the house where the father of Vlad the Impaler was born. You will be back in Poiana Brasov in the afternoon. Dinner and accommodation in 3* hotel.


Day 7: Sunday, 15th August 1999

Leave to Sinaia, mountain resort surnamed "The Pearl of Carpathians". Here you visit the Peles Castle, the most beautiful and interesting palace in Romania built in XIX century, former summer residence of the Romanian Kings. Visit Sinaia Monastery, old monks monastery built by the voievod Serban Cantacuzino. After few shopping hours in this beautiful town back to Poiana Brasov. Dinner and accommodation in 3* hotel.


Day 8: Monday, 16th August 1999

Free time for walking and shopping in this nice mountain resort. Time to leaving, transfer to the International Otopeni Airport in Bucharest. Hope to see you again next time!
