Retezat - A Wildness Challenge to Humanity


I n August 1999 the path of visibility of the Total Eclipse will cross the splendide tourist area of Retezat. Founded in 1935 as reservation of biosphere, National Park Retezat is a wonderfull tresure of the Meridional Carpathians, with a surface of 800 sq km and more than 30 peaks. The most important are the Retezat (2484 m), Peleaga (2509 m) and Papusa (2502 m). Large surfaces of forests, rivers, lakes, valleys and terraces provided since pre-historical times was necessary to the inhabitants of this county.
